cu zi a francezilor. Diferiți protagoniști, printre ei studenti, muncitori, angajați își dezvăluie gîndurile în timpul conversațiilor. Ei vorbesc fără reținere despre bucuriile lor, frica sau grijile pe care le pot avea. Acest film fără scenariu și fără actori profesioniști încearcă să determine limitele cinematografiei adevărului.

Few films can claim as much influence on the course of cinema history as Chronicle of a Summer. The fascinating result of a collaboration between filmmaker-anthropologist Jean Rouch and sociologist Edgar Morin is a brilliantly conceived and realized sociopolitical diagnosis of the early sixties in France. Simply by interviewing a group of Paris residents in the summer of 1960—beginning with the provocative and eternal question “Are you happy?” and expanding to political issues, Morin reveal the hopes and dreams of a wide array of people.

Pendant l’été 1960, Jean Rouch et Edgar Morin ont enquêté sur la vie quotidienne des français. Les différents protagonistes, étudiants, ouvriers, employés se révèlent lors des conversations. Ils parlent sans retenue de leurs joies, de leurs craintes ou de leurs angoisses. Ce film sans scénario ni acteur professionnel tente de fixer les limites de la vérité cinématographique.
